There are more than 16 stalls in poi spinning, but if you get these basic16s, you'll be more free when you spin poi.

Basic 8 Stalls

Anti-spin 8 Stalls

Make stall from Anti-spin. This stall can make center cross-line.

フラワー基礎

Step 1 : Extend comfortable spinning Area

Flower is the moves with extended arm to top, bottom, front, back. Practice extend your arm to each way with spinning poi.

Step2 : Transfer one Poi

Practice transport poi position to position.

Move your arm when poi towards to the outer big circle.

STEP 3 Make Rhythm and Plane Clean with 2 poi

Spin 2 poi at each position. Practice to keep the rhythm and plance clean at all the positions.

STEP 4 2Transfer with 2 poi

Practice transfering Vertical position to Horizontal Position, Horizontal Position to Vertical Position.
Try to keep rhythm and plane clean all the time.

STEP 5 Make one petal each

Start at H position, make one petal at V position and move back to next H position, and keep plane & rhythm again.
It helps your position clean and get easier to move with flower trick. Start V position as well.

STEP 6 Make flower !

Spin one circle at each position. Try to keep rhythm, plane clean.

スパイラルラップ Spiral Wrap

Step 1 : Practice Wrapping move with one poi, one hand.

Step 2 : Practice the movement without poi.

Step 3 : Practice Wrapping 2 hands with one poi.

Step 4 : Practice wrapping 2 hands with 2 pois, this is the spriral wrap!

無限スパイラル(インフィニットスパイラルラップ)

Spiral move that Thomas and Cyrille discovered in 2009 Firedrums. The spiral can be continued infinitely very easily.

Practice method

Practice with one Poi.

  1. rap poi around your wrist, and unwrap as the other direction.Keep wrapping and unwrapping untill you feel comfortable with it. Do the same thing with the other hand.
  2. Wrap poi around your wrist once, ant hold your hands togerther. Poi wrap your wrist togerther. Make sure that poi does't wrap your hands, but wrist.
  3. Keep holding hands togerther, then keep wrapping and unwrapping untill you feel comfortable with it. Do the same thing with the other hand.

Practice with 2 Pois.

  1. Spin poi in front of you in split time. Wrap around wrist separately. Unwrap, and wrap the other direction. Keep doing this untill you feel comfortable with it. Try keep the rhythm in Split time.
  2. Spin poi in front of you in split time Wrap around wrist once, and hold hands togerther. Poi wrap around your wrist togerther, if you spin poi in right ungle with your hands, it automatically wrap your wrist. Twist, untwist your hands ant poi will get more even position.

How to go out from sprial

If you started by the clockwise spinning, you can go out with relesing hands on the other directon counter clock wise.
If yoiu release hands on the same direction as you came in, you will get poi shorter.

For safety

Don't do this move without protector! This move can burn your wrist very heavily!!

ウォール面の手の返し:リール

The wrist move of the Wall Plane is different from the Side Plane. You need like a 'reel' move to make it clean and smooth.

スレッドザニードル(アウトワード)

Begin with outward butterfly.

  1. Move your bottom poi push forward when both poi pass at the bottom.
  2. Keep the position untill poi comes to the bottom again. Be patiant. Many people get tangle since they can not wait!!
  3. Alternate position when poi pass the bottom. Keep going!

バタフライターン

Turn with butterfly. For butterfly move, reel turn is easier and more smooth. But, if you can make this normal turn, poi looks like going through into body.

Both poi can't transfer planes at the same time. The poi which is toward the dirction of turning, transfers firs, then the other poi transfers after harf around a circle.

4ビートスレッドザニードル

Advanced thread the needle.

In inward TTN, your hands change position after poi cross at the "TOP". But in 4beat TTN, you wait till poi cross at the "Bottom" .
You need to wait half a circle.
*for out ward, wait till poi cross at the top.

ポイチ :スプリットバタフライ ポイ体操

This move is the basement of split butterfly flower moves.

This is very good for starter of the poi practice, building body balance, and turns.
You can get exhaust after this practice in summer.

Tips for Split butterfly

  1. Hands(poi) meet on holizontal line.
  2. Hands make vertical line in front of you.

These points are 2 twice a circle, total 4 points. If you can keep this 4 points clean, you can play with split time butterfly as Nick woolsey!!?

  • Relax your shoulder muscles. Stand in balanced position.
  • Always imagine the wall plane, and hands are on wall plane.
  • Don't think too much about how extend arms, but make it balanced. Too much extention will injure shoulder.
  • Think inner shoulder. Don't force them, set it comfortable and free position.
  • Alternate your right hands and left hands.

Turn

You can use this turn for poi itself.

  1. Start turn after open arm position.(vertical position.)
  2. At 90 degrees position, your arms point horizontal line with pararell. your body has turn 90 degrees.
  3. At 180 degrees turn, your arms are open position (Vertical position) as start position on the other planne.
  4. Hands meet on the horizontal line.

アイソレーション

The center of rotation is in the middle of Poi String. If you keep both of the center, poi becomes like a stick.

It takes at least a month to get isolation.

Spining poi 5 times on each side, is "5beat weave". Twisting your arms and add extra beats on 3 beatweave.

Let's see Clockwise, rightside hipmill this lesson.
You can call this move "forward hip mill". Because if you twist your body to right side, it'll be forward spin on the side plane.

Practice one by one

  1. Place your righht hand on left shoulder.
  2. Spin your left poi under the right arm, make 2 beat spin on front and btb.
    Make sure you keep plane nice and vertical. If you feel uncomfortable, you can twist body little bit.
  3. Practice right hand low reel
  4. Spin both hand togather. Make sure the crossed poi (left poi which comes cross from the other side of body) is always under the other poi.

! This move is 2 beat. The crossed poi is always under. If it's over the other poi, you should spin as "Shoulder mill" not hip mill.
