ジャイアント ウィンドミル

Put extended big circle bitween windmill.
This is very simple, but important move to connect advanced moves with smooth way.

This is counter clock-wise description.

1. Start making extended big cercle when right poi towards TOP.

2  Left poi start making big circle when right hand comes to The bottom, left poi comes to The TOP. Keep this 180 position all the time.

3.Get your right poi back to windmill when Right poi comes to The Top, left poi comes to the bottom.

4.Try move your left poi farther  to right side on the last harlf extended big circle. Then get it back to the windmill move.

ピルエット基礎

Yuta's Pirouette.

  1. If you turn to right, step your right foot back. The front foot is kicking foot, the other one is the base foot.
  2. Turn body 180 degrees.
  3. Kick your kicking foot and turn another 180 degrees. Keep your weigh center.
  4. Place your kicking foot back where it was at the beginning.

Tips

  • Keep your body weigh center.
  • Spin your poi vertically as much as you can.
  • Stay your kicking foot close to the other foot.

Next step of outterfly moves.
When you do butterfly, there 2 positions. Right poi top, or Left poi top. Thread the needle (TTN) is the move that you alternate these 2 positions

Begin with Inward, Right poi top

  1. When your poi cross at the top, your right hand goes forward.
  2. Until poi goes around a circle, right hand is on front, left hand is on behind.
  3. When your poi cross again, now your left hand goes front, right hand comes behind, change the position before poi goes bottom.
  4. When poi comes top,you change position again.
  5. Repeat.

Poichi exercise butterfly is exactly the same move without poi. so if you have any problem, go and practice poichi exercise.
For outward TTN, practice upside down from inward.

This move is the basement of Turn moves.

This is very good for starter of the poi practice, building body balance, and turns.
Try other poi-chi exercises too.

Tips for Same Same Big circles

  1. Twist your body with arms. Don't force only arms to move, use whole body.
  2. Keep Plane clean and vertical. Even you turn, your arms move vertically.

Tips for Bigcircles

  • Relax your shoulder muscles. Stand in balanced position.
  • Always imagine the wall plane, and hands are on wall plane.
  • Don't think too much about how extend arms, but make it balanced. Too much extention will injure shoulder.
  • Think inner shoulder. Don't force them, set it comfortable and free position.

POIの長さの変え方(サイド面)

How to change the length of poi on side plane. After changing the length, your poi will bi on thumb side, not little finger side.

Hold poi little bit shorter, and spin in middle of your arms.

The stall from pendullum. This is good practice for stalls, and you can even use this stall for your performance.

  1. Make pendullum with poi
  2. When poi head comes to top, your hand moves to top of poi head.
  3. Try to isolate poi head when your hand moves.
  4. If your poi doesn't stop, follow poi with body to keep the line straight.

You don't see poi during turn. You use "reel" for this turn, so this is called as REEL TURN.

Practice with one poi

Keywords : Under, Over, back.

   1. Hold one poi, and strech the other arm. ( In this video, hold poi with right hand. )
   2. Spin poi backward once at the right side.
   3. When POI comes from bottom to top, move poi to the other side of your body, and spin through the under of left arm. and spin onece.
   4. Then spin poi over the left arm once.
   5. Spin POI back to the right side when poi comes up.
   6. Back to 3

Practice hands

   1. Bigin with backward 2 beat weave.
   2. Focus on the bottom arm. Find the timing when the bottom arm goes throw over the other arm.
   3. Onece your bottom poi go throw over the other arm, 2 beat weave becomes bottom side top.
   4. Do the same with the other top hand.
